Don’t park over our driveway

2025 - Thanks & Don’t park over our driveway.

2025 was a wild year for us here at Common Wood. We made a mess and cleaned it up a million times over. We said goodbye to some old faces while we welcomed some in new faces. We challenged ourselves with some head scratching builds whilst trying to maintain our sanity.

Early on in the year we lost a beast in the workshop, Mitch, to Sweden so he could finish his architecture studies. We welcomed Ryan and then a little later in the year we also had Jordan join the crew. We also welcomed back an old face, Matt. He has been working over at Three of a Kind in Leichhardt since we last saw him. Currently he splits his time here with the guys/girls at Three of a Kind. Our hired gun.

Beth and I also welcomed a new addition into the fold. Penny has been no help in the workshop as of yet. Pretty disappointing performance in her 6 months at Common Wood.

I feel that we really upped our game in 2025. Took on some builds that were a bit overwhelming at times but we managed to wrangle them to produce a lot of cool furniture.

Thanks youzzzzz

One of the best parts of being in the inner west is the people. Whether you ordered furniture, rented a few benches for a party, or just wandered in to say hi and talk timber, we appreciate it more than you know.

We had heaps of repeat customers this year, and a lot of “my friend told me to come to you guys,” which is honestly the best review we could ever get.

The woodworking community. We’d have been stuck a bunch of times if it weren’t for local shred lords and out of town heroes. You know who you are. And thank you.

Thanks to our legendary staff. Thanks for being able to decipher my gibberish and turn it into furniture. Thanks for putting up with my sleep deprived rants.

Beth - Literally nothing would happen here without her. The unsung hero of Common Wood.

Woody - Keep doing what you’re doing. A little less sneaking around the corner to the bagel shop when no one is look would be good.

Whether you worked with us this year or you’re just following along, thanks for supporting a small local workshop. We love what we do, and we’re stoked to carry that energy into the year ahead.

Don’t park over our driveway. See you in 2026
